The following is a brief description of my sources:
Fairness and the Economy is a compelling source from a journal that discusses how economic inequality in the United States has increased in the last few years. It provides good arguments that I will further investigate for my issues paper.
State Income Taxes and Economic Growth is a great source from an academic journal. It is a study that was done on the relationship between state income taxes and economic growth. The study found a significant negative affect of income taxes on economic growth. This article will be useful in showing the negative affects of income equality on economic growth.
Spreading the Wealth by Lorenzi is a journal article that discusses how wealth is spread in the United States. It discusses the goals of the income tax system and its achievements and shortcomings.
A Theory of Justice is the most cited source for justifying the fairness of income equality.
What’s the Right Thing to Do? is an analysis of A Theory of Justice applied to the idea of income equality. It discusses the moral side of the issue and avoids the economic analysis of distribution of wealth.
